How much will it cost?
This question, while it is such an essential question for most homeowners, is the most difficult one to answer. How much your home will cost depends largely on you. The design you arrive at, the overall size of the house and the finish you use are all factors in the cost. Do you want to go for the Energy Star program that we highly encourage. It will add up front costs that you will recoup over the lifetime of your house. Do you want granite counters or are you happy with laminate? Do you insist on hardwood floors or is carpeting more to your liking? There are many many factors governing the cost of any house. When a builder tells you house 'A' will cost you 'X' dollars its because that builder is restricting your choices. At Heritage Glen those choices are unlimited, so giving you a simple answer is very difficult. Talk with your builder, the agents here at Heritage Glen and/or your architect to arrive at an approximate cost. Through discussion and fact finding you will be able to arrive at a figure to work from.
Where do I get plans?
Plans for your home at Heritage Glen can come from an assortment of sources. You can work with a local architect. If you don't know one our developer can assist you in finding one. You may purchase plans from the internet. There are many, many websites and books that offer house plans for sale. If you look on the web for plans, keep in mind the "craftsman" or "arts and crafts" theme of our neighborhood. If you purchase generic plans, our developer can assist you with modifications to match your lot. Two of the lots currently for sale at Heritage Glen come with a complete set of plans for building. See the details on Lot 4 and Lot 22.
How soon do I have to build after purchase?
Once you purchase your lot here at Heritage Glen you have as long as you need to build your home. While we would love to have you start construction immediately there are a lot of reasons why that may not be possible, so there is no pressure to start until you have all the details worked out.
What is an Energy Star Home?
To be an 'Energy Star Home', your home must meet guidelines for energy efficiency as set by the US EPA. These homes are at least 15% more energy efficient than homes built using the 2004 International Residential Code (IRC) and include features that make them 20 - 30% more efficient than a standard constructed home. An Energy Star home is more 'green' both from the use of increased energy efficiency and the use of recycled materials. The major features of an energy star home include: Effective Insulation, High Performance Windows, Tight Construction and Ducts and Efficient Heating and Cooling Equipment. Other energy star qualified products - lighting fixtures, compact fluorescent bulbs, ventilation fans and appliances may also be part of the package. To qualify as 'Energy Star' homes must be inspected by independent third party Home Energy Raters. For more information on Energy Star and Energy Star rated homes see the Energy Star website at www.energystar.gov
